Weddings Are Like Heaven.

Updated: Dec 15, 2021

I love weddings.

I used to officiate a lot of them.

And no matter where you sit, I’ll have the best seat in the house: right in front of the couple;

who are so in love and filled with so much promise.

And of course a party follows every wedding.

The best part.

There’s food, drink, and music.

People are dropping off gifts, eating, laughing, and dancing.

Because they cannot sit still, kids in their best clothes run from table to table.

Giggling at every stop.

Uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins show up, dressed up, and ready to get down.

So do the grandparents; dressed up and ready to par-tay as only old folks do.

People eat, talk, laugh.

Wine is passed, poured, and consumed.

Flowers and garters are thrown and photos taken.

Then sadly,

Reluctantly.

The party winds down.

Folks embrace or kiss or both as they share long goodbyes, promising to keep in touch.

And this is what heaven is like; only much better.

What are the best things about wedding receptions?

Exactly.

Heaven will be like that, but with no awkwardness, sadness or goodbyes.

There will be food, wine, music, and dancing.

Your friends and family will be there.

They’ll smile and laugh.

You will too.

And the party is in a city of lights.

Never any nights

Just the Light.

A place where love is more valuable than gold.

And people are finally the best version of themselves.

They will fully unleash their creativity.

And since there’s no day or night, whenever you want to or need to, you go to the party.

Where there will be food, wine, music, and dancing.

Your friends and family will be there.

They’ll smile and laugh.

You will too.

And that’s heaven.

One great long wedding reception.

Because it is.
